Is there
a magic button offering us all ways to lose weight
fast. The truthful answer is NO, there isn't one, unless you
believe in the fairies of course, or are naive enough to believe the infomercials, sales pages, or
advertisements!
A quick
analogy to understand your weight and the food you eat, and if there really are ways to lose weight
fast...
Go and fill up the gas tank on your car, now drive a 300 mile journey. At the 300 mile point
pull into the nearest gas station and fill up again. How much fuel can you pump in? Well, to help you clearly
understand this point, the fuel you can pump into your car is the fuel your car just used for the 300 mile
journey?
Think of ways to lose weight fast, you may succeed.
Okay,
simple right, now let's say for this exercise that the amount pumped in was 20 gallons.
Next, fill up your car, drive 15 miles down the road, now pull into the nearest gas
station and fill up again. How much did you manage to pump in this time? Well, as I have already explained, the
amount of fuel you can pump in is the amount of fuel your car just used for the 15 mile journey? Let's say it was 1
gallon.
Now, fill up the gas tank, drive 15 miles down the road, pull in to the nearest gas
station, and pump 20 gallons into the gas tank, and don't stop when it spills, just keep going until the pump says
20 gallons. Now, the big question.... How much gas is on the floor? Okay, if you said '19 gallons', well done, 19
gallons of gas is on the floor...
The Reality Check... Your body is absolutely fantastic, it
will not waste your money by rejecting
the fuel, and spilling it on the floor like your car would. Oh no, your body just keeps taking it and storing
it, taking it and storing it, taking it and storing it... It wouldn't matter if you walked 5 miles, or 50 miles,
your body will consume the same amount of food each time, it is not only accepting what is being used, it will
keep on taking it until YOU stop. So, where does this excess fuel go, the spillage that your car would send to
the floor? The fuel spillage for humans, well it certainly don't go on the floor, and if you haven't guessed it
yet, think waistline, think bigger clothes sizes. When you say 'Go Large' at the next fast food outlet, unless
you are burning the extra food portion, say with exercise, you are saying Go Large' to your body as well. So the
answer to the question, are there ways to lose weight fast, the truthful answer is, there
isn't.
Ways To Lose

- Stay focused on your
goals, your diet program, if you take a wrong turning, accept you are only human, and get back on
track as soon as possible, if need-be, realign your goals. And don't be so accepting that you can go off
everyday, as it clearly won't work. Stay on-track for most of the time, and you will succeed. Most of us
are are looking for ways to lose weight
fast, but faster is not better, losing it long term must be your
ultimate goal.
- Don't stop until you reach your
goal weight. Many people begin a diet well, they start to lose
weight, but then, something happens in their life, they get discouraged, maybe they didn't reach the weight
they set in their goals... So, instead of accepting that things can go wrong, they quit the diet. I
encourage you to accept that things do go wrong sometimes, accept we are only human, and see such things as
a temporary issue. Once it's over, start again where you left off, maybe even amending your goals inline
with the delays you suffered. These are the main reasons why you should set goals in the first place, and
stick to them. Don't be one of life's failures, selling yourself short, settling for second best. Achieving
your goals will not only strengthen your character, you will also have a lighter body to show for it, and
you will be able to live a healthier life.
- So, now you've reached your goal,
what next. If you chose your diet correctly i.e. not quick, fad,
ways to lose weight fast diets, it will have changed your eating habits for life. Now you've reached your
goal weight, you can have the occasional treat, but, be careful, as you don't want to go back to your old
lifestyle, your old weight.
There are ways to lose weight fast, well at least reasonably quickly
anyway... eat healthily, take exercise, food is your body's fuel, don't overfill your fuel
tank.
One last thought to etch into your brain... maintaining your body weight is far easier than
having to lose excess weight.
And finally, when you've lost the weight, reached your desired weight goal, pat yourself on
the back, you certainly deserve it, as you're a winner.
