This is Part 2 of a 4 part article
Part 1 is here - Weight Loss Tips
Weight Loss Tip 2. Try steaming or boiling your vegetables, this is instead of frying
or casseroling. Weight Loss Tip: Stay away from using cheese based dishes, and try to use
herbs and lemon juice instead of butter or margarine.
Weight Loss Tip 3. Watch out for certain types of bread. Stay
away from white bread, as it is full of sugar. Try to go for wholemeal bread, whole grain
bread, and seeded bread. Also, look for brown rice, wild rice, and basmati rice, you will
find the taste of the rice not that different from white rice, but they have a much lower
starch content.
Weight Loss Tip 4. When buying
meats like pork and beef, try and buy lean, or even extra lean. You should try some cuts of meat
like the fillet or sirloin, as these have less fat content than other cuts. Let's go on to cooking
your meats, roasting, grilling and dry frying are the most healthy methods of cooking meat.
Weight Loss Tip: Try to use a light cooking spray instead of cooking
oil.
Weight Loss Tip 5. If you are cooking turkey, cook the stuffing separately, as this
will stop the fat being absorbed into the mix. Be sure to use less margarine or butter when
making the stuffing. Don't forget to skim the fat off if you make the gravy from the meat
juices. Leave the drumsticks for the kids, and as with chicken, choose light meat over dark,
and you will save a lot of calories.
Weight Loss Tip 6. Try serving fruit as a dessert. Serving
fruit instead of pie, or cake, can make a huge difference to the number of calories you will
consume in your meal. Instead of calorie intensive cake or pie, try serving a whole piece of
fruit, some yogurt, or even a fruit cocktail. The truth is we don’t really need a dessert
after a meal, and usually have one just out of habit.Weight Loss Tip:You may be pleasantly surprised at how some fruit can
be a really good substitute for your dessert, especially if you have a sweet
tooth.
Weight Loss Tip 7. If you must have an ice cream, then try a
sugar free one, or even a low-fat frozen yogurt. Instead of topping your ice cream with
sauces like chocolate or caramel, try using some mixed fruit cocktail.Weight Loss Tip:The taste of these sugar free ice cream's
is almost identical to normal ice cream, and the added fruit will satisfy your sweet tooth,
if required.
